Many have seen lapbooks before….but NOT like this! These are designed for the Middle and High School students who may not enjoy quite as much of a “crafty” record of their studies as their younger siblings, but they still deserve and enjoy a FUN “hands-on” experience. We have combined the fun of Lapbooks along with the joy of Journaling to create a “Lapbook Journal,” which is contained within a 3-ring binder.
The Lapbook Journal is divided into 3 sections, all kept in the same binder. The first section is the “On Your Own Journal” section, which includes space to answer all of the “On Your Own” questions within each module. These pages are “Notebooking” style, and the questions are printed out next to space for the student to write the answers. These pages may include decorative borders, graphics, or diagrams that are related to the topic about which the student will be writing.
The second section is the “Study Guide Lapbook” section, which is similar to traditional lapbooks, but there are no folders in which to place the booklets. The student cuts, folds, and glues the booklets onto cardstock pages within the binder. All of the booklets represent the “Study Guide” questions at the end of each module.
The third section is "Lab Journal." This section includes general lab forms for each lab within the book. These include 2 formats for you to choose from: partially completed lab reports AND blank (titled only) lab reports.
This method helps the student to enjoy his or her studies more, thereby improving retention of the information being learned. This binder will take the place of any other notebook that they may have otherwise kept.
Eliminate the dull and tedious task of writing the questions and answers into a traditional notebook. Why not step up to a “Lapbook Journal,” and see your students improve their memory of the material and actually ENJOY and look forward to their studies? This also gives them a wonderful review tool and a way to display their work for showing family and friends!
